Screening of “Hometown Habitat: Stories of Bringing Nature Home”

  • Westport Public Library 408 Old County Road Westport, MA, 02790 United States (map)

About: Native plants, once established, don’t require the use of herbicides and pesticides to maintain their beauty. Also, native pollinators and birds prefer native plants for nectar and seed. Producer/director Catherine Zimmerman traveled the country to visit hometown “habitat heroes.” Her film features success stories and works-in-progress. The event will also feature a talk by Sarah Lavalley, who has devoted her career to sustainable horticulture. She is a NOFA accredited organic land care professional who specializes in native plantings, meadows, insectaries and food gardens. Free and open to the public. The Westport River Watershed Alliance is sponsoring the event.
