Food Summit IV

  • Salve Regina University, O'Hare Academic Building Shepard Avenue Newport, RI, 02840 United States (map)

About: This year's food summit is presented by Aquidneck Community Table
in collaboration with Salve Regina University’s Department of Cultural, Environmental and Global Studies and the Salve Hydroponics Lab. Bring your ideas and enthusiasm for small group discussions about making schoolyards edible and sustainable, increasing access to healthy food to all members of our community, growing more food locally, and the many aspects of a zero-waste life. Over the lunch hour visit an expo to learn about the work of several local organizations and businesses. Later take a tour through Salve's hydroponics lab. Lunch will be available from local food trucks. Some of the questions the summit seeks to answer include: What are the lessons and inspirations in creating the components of a healthy and equitable food system on Aquidneck Island? What are the opportunities and barriers? What ingredients do we have, and how do we build the recipe? How do we take existing local action to the next level? Advance registration is required.
