Learn the Facts About Invenergy Project

  • North Scituate Public Library 606 West Greenville Road North Scituate, R.I. (map)

About: The Northwest Rhode Island Supporters of Open Space is hosting this educational program about the fossil-fuel power plant proposed for Burrillville. If built, the facility would use some 700 gallons of water a minute, impact 200 acres of woodlands and would not reduce your electric bill. So why do they want to build it? Do we need the power? What about jobs? Taxes? And where will the water come from at a time when the region is in a drought? Paul Roselli, president of the Burrillville Land Trust, will lead the program. The program is being sponsored by the Burrillville Land Trust and the Rhode Island Association of Conservation Commissions. Healthy snacks and beverages will be served.
