The Blackstone River Watershed Council/Friends of the Blackstone is looking to hire a field coordinator for the Rhode Island team of the Blackstone River Watershed-wide Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Program.
Responsibilities: Manage one of the three water monitoring teams that cover the entire Blackstone River watershed — 79 monitors sample at 80 sites throughout the watershed on a monthly basis from April through November under a Quality Assurance Project Plan approved by MassDEP, RIDEM and the EPA. Testing occurs on the second Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m.-noon. The position is for about 15 hours a month, as it includes recruiting and training monitors, managing equipment, setting up and overseeing the testing lab, and data management.
Qualifications: Lab experience; Excel; data management; own transportation. Familiarity with Blackstone River watershed preferred.
Compensation: $15 an hour.
