The Boston-based Environment, Energy and Open Space Cabinet is seeking a part-time community outreach coordinator to help execute the 2014 Climate Action Plan Update community engagement strategy. The position will assist with the planning of the Greenovate Boston Summit, to be held this spring, and the coordination of the Greenovate Ambassador program. Launched in May 2013, Greenovate Boston is the city’s sustainability brand and initiative to engage local residents and businesses to take small steps in helping the city reduce its carbon footprint.
Responsibilities: Take the lead on initial logistics of Summit organization and provide input on the design and structure of the Summit; manage and coordinate Summit volunteers and speakers; create resources about city sustainability efforts to support the Greenovate Ambassadors; help coordinate Greenovate Boston meet-ups.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, or coursework towards a bachelor or master’s degree, preferably in a sustainability-related field such as urban planning or community organizing; experience with organizing conferences and meetings; knowledge of and passion for sustainability and climate action; graphic design skills, multilingual abilities and Boston residency a plus.
Compensation: Stipend, negotiable based on experience and availability; college credit and/or funding encouraged for candidates in school.
