  • Central Landfill 65 Shun Pike Johnston, R.I.

About: Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) and National Grid invite Rhode Island residents to recycle old, functional dehumidifiers at this Eco-Depot. This special event is available to National Grid customers only and coincides with RIRRC’s household hazardous waste collection. To help reduce time spent in line, appointments should be made in advance for household hazardous waste. Appointments are not required for dehumidifier turn-in. Residents who participate in the turn-in event will receive a $30 recycling incentive rebate, a $30 mail-in rebate towards a new energy-efficient dehumidifier and National Grid will cover the cost of recycling. Residents must have ID for proof of residency and must complete a rebate form to receive the rebates. Turn-in is limited to two units per Rhode Island household. Eco-Depots are available free of charge to Rhode Island residents only, and to help reduce time spent in line, appointments should be made in advance. Created in 2001, the Eco-Depot program is a free service offered by the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation that provides for the proper handling, packaging, storage, transportation and disposal of household hazardous waste. Since its inception, the program has collected about 10.6 million pounds of household hazardous waste.
